About Edie Ayala

Born in Canada and having lived in Spain and Bolivia, Ayala settled in Santiago, Chile more than 25 years ago. Her books carry underlying themes about global interdependence and raise questions about social justice and the environment. Ayala’s writing is a tapestry of rich experiences woven through odd characters from diverse cultures. Inspiration is drawn not only from the streets of Santiago, Chile but also from whispers of the Atacama Desert and the fullness of her homeland in Canada.

Ayala invites readers to explore the complexities of love, loss, and our shared humanity. Transporting her audience into worlds where the extraordinary meets the quotidian, readers appreciate the beauty in the mundane and the magic in the ordinary.
